We all experience the Hypnotic state in our everyday lives. We do it all the time, when we are watching a movie, and we don't remember what was happening, when driving home and you don't remember how you got there, or day-dreaming in the classroom and you don't hear what the teacher has said? During Hypnosis you will be guided into a similar state, by listening to relaxing music and listening to powerful suggestion, we can focus the mind and access the subconcious.


Unlike the image of Hypnosis which is represented in movies and dramatic novels, Hypnosis does not involve the therapist taking control of your mind - no one can Hypnotise you against your will. And nobody can make you do anything that you do not want to do - your subconcious mind will simply reject any suggestion that is inappropriate for you. It is important to acknowledge that there is a vast difference between a Stage Hypnotist, who is an entertainer, and a professionally trained, registered Clinical Hypnotherapist!


There are many different types of psychotherapy, all of which aim to help people overcome anxiety, emotional  problems and stress, by talking together to help clients overcome their difficuties. Psychotherapy is often referred to as 'talking treatment'. The type of Psychotherapy I practice, does not involve itself with analysing painful memories from the past, we acknowledge traumatic events of course, but research has shown that we do not need to re-live these events in order to heal, and therefore we can concentrate on focusing the mind on solutions for change, looking forward!

Hypnosis is simply a state of altered consciousness, a state of focused attention. In this relaxed state, your mind is more responsive to suggestion. In a therapeutic setting, the suggestions are designed to be beneficial to help you change unhelpful thought patterns. Most clients say that they find it very pleasant, it is very relaxing, and sometimes clients feel as though they are sleeping, even though they are not, yet aware of what is going on around them. Hearing everything that is being said whilst in a deeply relaxed state. One could describe it as guided day-dreaming.
